FOUNDATION POP-UP FESTIVAL (AKA THE NOT-QUITE-NEW REGENT STREET POP-UP FESTIVAL)

When is a festival not a festival? When it’s a festival-within-a-festival! On Saturday evening, drop into Foundation at Tūranga for a selection of back-to-back readings, games, interactive poetry, talks and more. Featuring the line-up from the previously advertised New Regent Street pop-up festival, including some of the most fun and innovative festival guests and work! Foundation will be open for (seated) drinks and food; come and go throughout the evening.

Please note: Tickets are not required to attend free events. All events are general admission seating. This event will be one-out, one-in to ensure numbers do not exceed the venue capacity. The safety of our audience is paramount: please arrive early, scan in and wear a mask. Audience numbers are capped under COVID Alert Level 2 and social distancing measures will be in place within each venue.

Ōtautahi Kaituhi
Works by Māori Writers

A mini showcase of local talent with new work from members of the Canterbury Poets’ Collective.

Starling Alumini
Starling is an online literary journal showcasing the best new poetry and prose from New Zealand writers under 25. We’ve brought together some of their alumni to celebrate the launch of its twelfth issue.

A love note, a break up, a query, commendation or an update.
We invited a bunch of living authors and storytellers to write to dead ones.

Robots Vs Classics
How would Shakespeare fare if fed through grammarly? What gets lost – or gained – in a google translation of Pablo Neruda? What would Microsoft’s grammar checker do to Chekov’s prose? We’ve invited writers to sacrifice a ‘classic’ piece of writing to the algorithms and strictures of technology – let’s see what comes out the other side.

Dice Roll Poetry
The roll of the dice will dictate parameters for poems and prose written on the spot.
We have a stellar collection of fast-thinking, rhyme-spinning writers on their quest to create a thing of beauty (or just lols) from chaos!

Salty Spiels
All aboard for an array of performances from portside poets and well seasoned writers. Salty rants, emotional voyages and odes to the ocean.

Love & Lust
A series of readings from romantic to raunchy, sensual to sordid. Local and visiting writers share works that will tease, tantalise and titillate, best accompanied by a stiff drink.
